:) wayback machine, anyway as Dennis noted the routine assumes decimal  radix,
however looking back I think there might be an bug somewhere in that  code, it
was a very long time ago since I touched it but I found the attached  code in an old archive of mine. You might need to change your code accordingly. The memory alludes me to pinpoint the exact error, but I think it might
have something to do with decimal point handling for the last few digits  (guessing here).

The attched code have a few 18X instructions but it's not fully  converted.
